So here are some tips and tricks on personal finance. A few I liked were use cash, put that credit card away. Cook at home, that saves money and is healthier. Small weekly transfers to a savings account. Do this and everything should be good. And my two favorites cut out cable tv and barter and open an online savings account as mentioned in the last post.

Some people struggle with resumes. I know there was a point where I did. Not knowing what to put on it, not knowing how to make it stand out, and not knowing what phrases to use to make employers like you. Solution there are people out there for who could help for a fee. They will take the time to work with you on your resume, (hopefully), not just doctor it. So if you are struggling just hit up Google and look up resume services or critiquing.

Want to make some cash on your savings account(s)? There is a thing known as online banking. Two sites I recommend and have received great reviews who also have awesome rates are ING direct and Emigrant Direct, no matter what one you chose your accounts would be linked to your regular checking account. Why settle for a crummy 3.0% interest when you could get 4% or sometimes even 5%.

A good idea before heading to a job fair is too look up who is going to be there. Let’s see I did exactly that and I decided I didn’t need to go. Most of the companies were looking for business or engineering majors, or the ones who were looking for general college degrees to employ them in back breaking crap jobs. I passed on them. Just do your research before you decide to take a job.

worktree
WorkTree is another job search engine. It lets you search by keyword, state and companies. You can also search by Fortune 500 companies and classified ads per state. I think has a little more depth then a lot of job search sites but it still comes up with the same results in the end.

Is another great game job listing site. It’s similar to gamasutra, but it lists all of its openings on the home page and what companies are looking for what. There’s even links so employers can post their job listings. The list jobs in both the UK, Europe, and the U.S. They also have a list of recruiters and links to most of the company’s employment sites.

Lifehack has a list of lifelong learning things. Always keep a book, nice if you have the time to read. Keep a to learn list, that sounds kinds cool, but I imagine parts of it never get done. Teach others, that’s good pass along your knowledge or better yet surround yourself with smarter friends. People who don’t say the word dude and totally after every sentence. And if nothing else start a project.

Take a look at usajobs.gov, a website that lists job for government organizations in various fields. I used it for a while to look for history jobs, I found some except there were either working in an office in DC or some other big city for next to nothing or working at some state park in the middle of nowhere for something. There are jobs with the IRS, CIA, National Parks, Bureau of Natural Resources. Just take a look I’m sure you will find something.
